Christensen arbeidet mot slutten av krigen ved den norske statsministers kontor. Han kom hjem med ms Andes sammen med regjeringen.
Lorentz giftet seg i Petrus kirke i Oslo 15. juni 1946 med Gerd Hansen f. 21. mars 1923, død 22. november 1994. Deres sønn, Terje Christensen, f. 18. november 1946.
Etter hjemkomst til Norge jobbet Lorentz som Norges Port Captain for det amerikanske rederiet Moore & McCormack Lines.
