PRESIDENT HERRENSCHMIDT ankom Oran 24.6 1940, og ble tilbakeholdt av de franske myndigheter. Rekvirert av Vichyregjeringen den 21.6 1941 og mannskapet avmønstret og sendt til Marseille. Reiste derfra til Norge.
