The information on registered seafarers is not in all cases complete. As new sources are studied, information on engagements and medals etc. will be added to some of the already registered seafarers.

Shetlandsgjengen. Heltene i Nordsjøen:
Innlemmet i Shetlandsgjengen: 16.2.1943, nr. c137.
Antall turer: sesong 1942-43=1.
The National Archives:
«During the summer of 1941 he heard that a number of Norwegian seamen were getting ashore from boats that were anchored alongside the Swedish coast. As he was an exceptionally strong swimmer he thought that for him the easiest way of getting into Sweden would be to swim ashore from such a ship."
"After interrogation by the Police he was sent two days later to Kjeseter and from there to Øreryd. After he had been at Øreryd for a few days NATHAN appeared and said that the Captain had allowed him to jump off the boat and swim ashore the following night because the ship was bound for Gdynia and it was feared that if the German soldiers reported his attempt at Varberg he might be taken ashore and sent to Germany».

Medals (1)
Going through new source material in order to document the war sailors and their history is an ongoing and extensive effort, and there exist no complete register over decorations awarded. Infomation about medals will therefore be registered gradually and be based on different source materials. The war sailors were awarded medals both during and after the war.
