Gift 1923 på Nøtterøy med Ludvikke Alvilde Larsen, f. 1902 s. st. 4 barn.
Var 1. styrmann på M/S TOURCOING da krigen brøt ut, og var fører fra 1941 til skipet ble minesprengt 24. august 1942. Overtok så M/S TOPECA, som han førte til han ble drept av mitraljøseild under et flyangrep 4. oktober 1943. Skipet ble bombet i brann og satt på land ved Horn, nord for Sandnessjøen. Gravlagt på Nøtterøy.
