Gift 1917 i Trondheim med Regine Sofie Hansen, f. 1885 i Frøya. 2 barn.
Omkom da hurtigruteskipet PRINSESSE RAGNHILD sank 23. oktober 1940 ved Hovden, litt nord for Bodø, etter en eksplosjon som skyldtes mine. Gravlagt på Tilfredshet kirkegård, Trondheim.
