Gift 1915 i Narvik med Kanette Josefine Widding, f. 1895 i Tromsø. 2 barn.
Under krigen i Nord-Norge var han los på D/S BARØY som gikk i fart for regjeringen mellom Tromsø og Brønnøysund. Ble så beordret som los på engelske og franske transportskip. Omkom 24. mars 1944 da D/S NORDNORGE ble torpedert eller minesprengt ved Stad, på reise fra Sarpsborg til Tromsø og Narvik.
