Gift 1924 i Haugesund med Jenny Mathilde Kristiansen Dåre, f. 1902 s. st. 2 barn.

Ble arrestert av tyskerne og satt i fangeleir bl. a. i Hamburg, Belsen og andre steder. Reiste senere med norske skip, bl. a. D/S RAMFOSS (ex KRONPRINS OLAV). Omkom 3. mai 1945 da skipet krigsforliste utenfor Kalundborg i Danmark. Gravlagt på Rakle kirkegård ved Kalundborg.
