1. og 2. kl. kystskippereksamen. Gikk under krigen i kystfart, var også fisker. Ble skadet ved eksplosjonsulykken i Bergen 20. april 1944 og innlagt på Haukeland sykehus hvor han døde dagen etter. Gravlagt på Stolmen kirkegård.
