Gift 1915 i Asker med Elise Pauline Hansen, f. 1897 i Oslo. 4 barn. Var lettmatros på m/t Borgny, og omkom 4. oktober 1941 da skipet ble torpedert utenfor Marsteinen, på vei fra Son til Trondheim. Sønnen Kåre Hjalmar omkom samtidig.
