Hadde deltatt i bergingsarbeid i 35 år, var fører av bergingsbåten DRAUGEN fra 1923. Omkom 15. juli 1940 utenfor Bergen da båten gikk på en mine og sank. Omtalt i Møre-Nytt 29. juli 1940. Hans 2 sønner, Oscar og Karsten, omkom samtidig.
