Var styrmann på M/S Nyegg, som grunnstøtte utenfor Jæren 19. mars 1941. Han ble reddet, men ble siden tvunget til å ta lostjeneste, og omkom da tyske D/S Hödur, byggeår 1913, krigsforliste 20. april 1942 i Folla. Gravlagt i Borgund.
