Reiste ut som 2.maskinist på hvalfangst ombord på hvalfanger D/S OTTERN i 1939, hvor han var ombord til høsten 1942, kom derfra til M/T FERNCASTLE som 3.maskinist, og omkom da skipet ble torpedert av japansk torpedobåt og tysk hjelpekrysser MICHEL den 17.juni 1943 på reise fra Esperance Bay, Australia til den Abadan i Persiske gulf.
