Gift 1931 i Arendal med Maggie Ingeborga Ingebrethsen, f. 1908 s. st. 1 barn. Seilte under krigen med m/t Buccaneer som ble senket av besetningen i Skagerak 1. april 1941 da skipet ble angrepet av tyske sjøstridskrefter. Han ble tatt til fange og sendt til Tyskland hvor han satt i Marlag und Milag Nord og deretter i forskjellige fengsler. Ble syk etter en tid og ble lagt inn på sykehus i Stettin. Døde 22. mai 1944.
