CHRISTENSEN, REIDAR, lettmatros, Risør. Født 6. mars 1918, s. av Ernst Christensen, f. 1886 i Fredrikshavn, omkommet 1943, og Anna Marie f. Lundberg, f. 1888. Tjenstgjorde på p/s Norge, og omkom da skipet ble senket av tyskerne utenfor Narvik 9. april 1940.
Reidar Christensen gikk til sjøs med BELRAY i 1936. Var om bord som jungmann/lettmatros på samme tid som Jens E. Svendsen:

China og Japan var i krig, og ombord i BELRAY hadde vi "orkesterplass" til krigshandlingene.
I løpet av 1937 tok japsene flere byer, og etter harde kamper falt også Shanghai, hvor vi lå.
Reidar Christensen mønstret av ASTRELL å kom i marinen hvor han omkom ombord i panserskipet NORGE, som ble senket på Narvik havn om morgenen den 9. april 1940. Han var den første person fra Risør som omkom i krigshandling under 2 verdenskrig.
