Fartstid ca. 29 måneder.
Var den 9.april 1940 ombord på D/S BOTNE som på denne tid lå i Aberdeen, Skottland .
Senere seilte han som matros inntil han ble torpedert med M/T NORLAND på reise fra Clyde til Corpus Christi i Texas den 20.mai 1942.
Etter dette meldte han seg til marinen i New York .
Antatt i marinen og ble utdannet til skytter i Camp Norway, Lunenburg, Canada.
Senere gjorde han tjeneste som skytter på følgende norske handelsskip:
Troppetransportskipet M/S TORRENS fra 24.8.1942 til 21.9.1943.
M/S PANAMA EXRESS fra 23.9.1943 til 3.11.1943.
M/S SKAGERAK fra 9.11.1943 til 8.9.1944.
M/S NYHORN fra 3.10.1944 til 7.4.1945.
M/S TIRADENTES fra 10.4.1945 til 21.7.1945.
M/T O.B. SØRENSEN fra 21.7.1945 til 1.9.1945.
Nu var også Japan slått og han ble dimittert i Australia den 18. januar 1946.
