Nortrashipflåtens Skyttere 1941 til 1946:
Skytter nr. 1231: Olsen, Erling. Født 23.6.1917 i Solum.
Antatt i marinen og ble utdannet til skytter i Dumbarton, Scotland.
Senere gjorde han tjeneste som skytter på følgende norske handelsskip:
M/T FERNCOURT fra 09.03.1943 til 17.4.1943.
M/S HØEGH SILVERDAWN fra 19.4.1943 til skipet ble oppbrakt av den tyske hjelpekrysser MICHEL den 14.juni 1943. M/S HØEGH SILVERDAWN var underveis fra Freemantle i Austalia til Abadan i Iran. Det ble ikke gjort noe forsøk på å gi besetningen en mulighet til å redde seg. Hjelpekrysseren MICHEL gikk innpå å åpnet ild, og i løpet av en halv time sank skipet. Av en besetning på 28 mann , omkom 19. Videre hadde skipet ombord 11 passasjerer, hvorav 6 omkom. Etter dette gjorde Olsen tjeneste i :
SSH Bombay, India fra 16.6.1943 til 29.9.1943. overført
M/S MARGRETHE BAKKE fra 30.9.1943 til 1.6.1944. overført
SSH Travers Island fra 2.6.1944 til 13.7.1944. overført
M/S ELG fra 14.7.1944 til 12.8.1944. overført
SSH DUMBARTON fra 13.8.1944 til 27.11.1944.overført
M/T KALDFONN fra 28.11.1944 til 23.4.1945. overført
SSH DUMBARTON fra 24.4.1945 til 7.5.1945. overført
M/T EGERØ fra 8.5.1945 til 21.6.1945.
MMD; New York fra 22.6.1945 til 23.8.1945. overført
M/T HAPRINS fra 24.8.1945 til han ble dimittert den 2.mai 1946. Han fortsatte ombord på samme skip som matros.
